My modeling career started three years ago in Kharkiv, Ukraine when my friend saw an Instagram ad and sent it to me, saying it wouldn’t hurt to try. Turns out, I had what it took to be a model, and now I am where I am.

It was a truly beautiful experience. I believe Ghanaians are among the most carefree people I have met or been around.

SA: If you were not modeling what would you see yourself doing?

I used to study law, so if I wasn’t modeling, I would probably pursue a career in that field.

SA: Are there other things that you’re doing besides modeling?

Yes, I am currently studying International Relations in Hungary.

SA: Let us know 5 things about you that no one knows.

I consider myself to be quite open, but if there are things that no one knows about me, it’s probably best for them to remain that way (laughs). However, honestly, I can’t think of anything that no one knows about me.

SA: You have a management or agency you work with in other countries. How did that happen or how
were you scouted?

I have already explained how I got into modeling in Ukraine, and then I moved to Hungary at the start of the war. I applied to some agencies in Hungary, and fortunately, I got in. Currently, I am signed with three agencies in different parts of the world, including Milan, Italy; Poland, and Greece.

SA: Becoming a model really introduces one major condition into your life which is “Consistency”, Do you think this theory is accurate or not?

The theory that becoming a model introduces a major condition of “consistency” into one’s life can be accurate to a certain extent. Consistency is indeed an important aspect of a successful modeling career as it encompasses several factors that contribute to professional growth and development.
Physical Appearance: Models are expected to maintain a consistent physical appearance. This involves adhering to a disciplined routine of exercise, maintaining a healthy diet, and taking care of their skin, hair, and overall grooming.
Professionalism: Consistency in professionalism is vital for models. They need to be punctual, reliable, and dedicated to their work commitments. This includes being consistent in attending castings, fittings, and photo shoots, as well as following instructions from photographers, designers, and other industry professionals.

SA: Where do you find inspiration, and how do you apply it to your personal style?

My inspiration comes from my family, as Rhine have been very supportive of my journey so far. Additionally, I draw inspiration from myself and the type of life I aspire to live.

SA: How important is personal branding in your profession?

As a model, personal branding is of the utmost importance as it helps differentiate models in a competitive industry, maintain consistency and coherence, appeal to their target audience, leverage online platforms, establish longevity, and foster professional relationships. By investing in their personal brand, models can enhance their visibility, credibility, and marketability, ultimately increasing their chances of success in the modeling profession.

SA: Does having high cheekbones and distinctive facial features key or physique being athletic a requirement of a male model?

Having high cheekbones and distinctive facial features can certainly be advantageous for a male model, as unique and aesthetically pleasing facial attributes can make a model more memorable and potentially increase their appeal to clients and audiences. However, it’s important to note that the modeling industry is diverse, and different types of male models are sought after for various niches and campaigns. Ultimately, the modeling industry is highly subjective and varied, and there is no one-size-fits-all requirement for male models. While certain features and body types may be more sought after in specific niches, the industry embraces diversity and different aesthetics. It’s essential for male models to understand their strengths, develop their unique attributes, and find their niche within the industry that aligns with their look and personal brand. Building a strong portfolio, establishing professional relationships, and consistently pursuing modeling opportunities are key steps toward success, regardless of specific physical attributes.

SA: What has been the most difficult thing you’ve ever faced in your career as a model. What did you do to overcome it?

Probably the thought that I wasn’t photogenic and the belief that I wasn’t good enough used to weigh on me. However, I realized that it was just my own self-doubt and inability to handle the pressure. I overcame these negative thoughts by praying and recognizing my own worth. I focused on bettering myself and now I have the confidence to know that I definitely have what it takes to succeed in this industry.

SA: What is your view of sustainable fashion?

Sustainable fashion is gaining momentum as more consumers and industry stakeholders recognize the need for a more responsible and ethical approach to fashion. Brands and designers are increasingly integrating sustainability into their practices, and consumers are demanding greater transparency and eco-friendly options. By embracing sustainable fashion, it is possible to mitigate the negative impacts of the fashion industry and promote a more environmentally and socially conscious approach to clothing production and consumption.

SA: As an International Model, how has life changed for you?

For one, as a model, you get to travel a lot, and personally, I’ve never been a fan of traveling as I don’t really like sitting in one place for long. I prefer to be active. Secondly, being a model means you have to interact with a lot of people, and as an ambivert, it can be strenuous at times. However, the bright side is that you get to meet really fun people, see the world, and experience different cultures. You also have the opportunity to feel and understand a brand’s vision on a deeper level.

SA: How do you prepare for photoshoots and runway?

Firstly, I communicate with the photographer, stylist, or brand owner to understand the theme of the event or shoot. In terms of physical preparation, I make sure to get enough rest and take care of my skin to ensure it looks clear and healthy. Staying fit is also important, so I maintain a regular exercise routine. Additionally, I practice my runway walk to ensure that my strides are confident and elegant, while effectively showcasing the designer’s garments.

SA: What’s your best work to date, and which designers have you worked with so far?

It’s hard to pick just one, but one of the most memorable events for me would probably be the Moncler event in Milan, Italy. The atmosphere was simply surreal. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work with numerous designers, including Carlo Corlucci, and I have modeled for outlets that showcase renowned brands like Fendi, Off-White, and many others. Each experience has been unique and exciting in its own way.

SA: What genre of music best describes you?

I feel that my music taste cannot be attributed to one specific genre. I enjoy a bit of everything. However, I particularly enjoy a good Afrobeats song.

SA: You have some of the most unique and outstanding photos on social media, who’s your favourite photographer?

Not sure I have one… Each one of them has been wonderful and creative in their own way.

SA: Would you say it is hard keeping up to a model standard? Maintaining a healthy, fit body, staying fresh and looking good etc.

Yes, to some extent, it is. It can be harder for some individuals while easier for others.

SA: How do you incorporate feedback into your work?

Positive or negative feedback is necessary as a model because it enables you to see your flaws and strengths and work to improve them.

SA: How can models support each other in their career development?

It’s important for models to foster a collaborative and supportive community where they uplift and empower each other. By working together, models can create a positive and conducive environment for career development, professional growth, and collective success within the modeling industry.

SA:  If brands are interested in working with you, how do they reach you?

They reach out to my mother agency, or sometimes directly to me, and I refer them to my mother agency.

SA: How do you work to convey emotions and tell a story through your poses and expressions in a photoshoot?

Constantly practicing in front of the mirror is important. Sometimes, you have to feel the emotions on a deeper level to convey them well. Models can be really good actors.
