Hayet Rida-Amissah, the Founder and Creative Director of Khoi, is bringing something truly special to Houston on June 28th and 29th. Khoi is hosting a Pop Up event at 1125 Providence St., and while the collection she’s sharing doesn’t have a name, it carries a deep and personal story.
Hayet usually gives all her collections a name and a theme. But this time, things were different. She started designing this collection while listening to the song Ocean Eyes, creating each piece based on the feelings and symbols the song brought out in her. It began as a fun idea—designing to music—but turned into something much more meaningful.
She designed this collection during a happy time in her life—right after the successful launch of her Lost Art Collection. She was with her family, celebrating her birthday, and feeling at peace. She remembers thinking, “This is what summer feels like—light, free, beautiful.” She wanted to capture that exact feeling in her designs.
What makes this collection so emotional is that it was the last one she created before her life changed. Since then, her creativity and view of the world have shifted. This collection became her way of holding on to that joyful time, like putting a beautiful memory in a bottle.
Even though the collection comes from a place of past happiness, it’s also about hope. Hayet admits her happiness might never look the same again—but she also believes in creating a new kind of joy. And this collection is her way of celebrating that journey.
For the Houston Pop Up event, she’s creating a dreamy, white, peaceful space—something that feels like floating. To her, that’s what joy looks like.
So no, this collection doesn’t have a name. But it’s full of love, honesty, and hope. It’s a reminder that even after hard times, we can find new ways to smile again. And if you’re in Houston, you won’t want to miss it.
