Osaze Akil Stigler

Osaze Akil Stigler, also known as Osaze Akil, is an Atlanta, Georgia-based contemporary artist who was born in 1997. His works present a contemporary perspective on black autonomy in terms of self, space, and divinity. He reinvents black people as regal figures of strength, comfort, and exaltation by fusing Afrofuturistic ideas with historical themes and experiences. He makes black people and black culture the focal point and foundation of his artwork.

His background in urban architecture and landscape architecture has influenced his investigation of “constructed space,” which looks at the influence of being able to curate our own environs as individuals of African descent. His work frequently features feminine individuals and incorporates the nexus of fashion and beauty to emphasize the importance of self-presentation and bodily autonomy. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia and works as a landscape architect and urban planner in addition to being an artist.
