A Glimpse into KHOI’s Onipa Act II Collection

Onipa Act II

On August 24th, KHOI will unveil the second chapter in its exploration of identity with the highly anticipated Onipa Act II Collection. Following the success of Act I, which delved into the concept of born identity—highlighting elements like fingerprints, tree rings, and butterflies—the new collection takes an even more introspective approach.

From Ingrained to Rebuilt Identity

In Act I, founder and creative director Hayet Rida introduced us to the idea of ingrained identity—those aspects of ourselves that are inherent and unchangeable. This was symbolized through pieces that incorporated elements like ropes, ties, and tree rings, representing the identity we are born with. The collection explored how identity can evolve, as seen in the transition of a caterpillar to a butterfly, but still remained rooted in inherent qualities.

A Journey Inward

Act II shifts the focus inward, exploring the freedom to rebuild our identity. Where Act I was about understanding the identities we inherit, Act II is about the identities we create for ourselves. Rida explains that this chapter is about introspection—using the inside-out approach to examine what lies beneath the surface of our identities.

To symbolize this concept, the collection prominently features the interplay between transparent materials like acrylic and solid materials like brass. The 50/50 split in many of the pieces forces the observer to look inside, serving as a metaphor for the self-reflection required to rebuild one’s identity. The use of acrylic as a looking glass allows wearers to peer into the deeper aspects of their identity, challenging them to explore and redefine who they are.

A New Perspective on Jewellery

The Onipa Act II Collection is more than just a continuation of its predecessor; it’s an invitation to engage in conversations about identity, freedom, and transformation. By blending transparency with solidity, the collection encourages wearers to not only reflect on their inherent identities but also to consider the possibilities of what they can become.

Whether you’re drawn to the intricate details of the brass or the clarity of the acrylic, each piece in this collection is a reminder that identity is not static—it is a living, evolving part of who we are. As KHOI continues to push the boundaries of jewelry design, the Onipa Act II Collection promises to be a thought-provoking addition to your collection, offering both aesthetic appeal and deeper meaning.

Mark your calendars for August 24th, as this collection will surely inspire you to embark on your own journey of self-discovery and identity reconstruction.
